MEETinSchool - Making Spring Rolls Written By Erin 11/18/2006 click for full size
Saturday afternoon, the attendees learned how to make Vietnemese Spring Rolls. Everyone participated somehow. There was shrimp to boil and shell. Pork to boil. Vegetables to wash and cut. Peanuts and seasame seeds to roast and ground. Noodles to cook. All that cooking was worthwhile because the best part was the eating! We dug in! To make your spring roll, first dampen the rice wrap. Second layer the wrap with veggies(fresh basil, cilantro, cucumber and starfruit) and pork and/or shrimp. Third wrap up your spring roll. Fourth, dip in peanut sauce and enjoy! Thanks to Erin for offering her place up for the event.

In a word - Yummy This was really fun. We all participated in the preparation of the meal which made it taste even better. I think I'm ready to tackle making my own peanut sauce now... wish me luck! |

Cooking together is fun! We had a very good time. Cooking together is a very bounding experience, somewhat intimate, and everybody felt very comfortable and happy to be together. Many thanks to Crystal, a very good teacher and an organized cook, who gave us lots of interesting tips and suggestions, and to Erin, a very generous host, who was infinitely supportive and helpful. |
