Dancing
Where do "mature" people go to dance in this town? And I don't mean that salsa or swing stuff. I want to bust a move.

The African Dance Party
The African Dance Party happens every month on the last Saturday. I've gone several times over the past 7 years, and always had an excellent time, and met lots of energetic and interesting people... of ALL ages. Nice thing is that almost everyone dances... as couples, alone, in groups... everyone's having fun and enjoying the DJ'd world club music -- mostly African, but also Carribean, Latino, and some Middle Eastern. Takes place at the ANZA Club, #3 West 8th Avenue in Vancouver. Doors open at 9:30 pm and party goes until 2am. Oh... $10 at the door, and there's a bar (but no food, although there's a vending machine in the billiard room downstairs). Maybe see some of you there at the next party. Karen.

Snobsville!
Tim and I were walking past Lola's (we live like a block away) and asked the bouncer about the place and he made it pretty clear with body language and verbal cues that we did not register on the "Lola's Radar". Totally irritated me. I am too old and jaded to get excited about "almost getting in a club" and standing outside in hopes of being allowed through the ropes. I just want to go out and get my groove on...

Dancing and the sort
Well, I'd say that any of us that miss 70s night can take solace that some places - such as the Library Square pub hosts 80s night on Fridays.
Apparently, this new crowd of kids are looking back and honoring the 80s too...so be prepared to share the floor with 80s wanna-bes.

Dancing
I haven't been dancing in quite a few months but "Honey" used to have great tunes & a wide range of ages on Friday night (don't go Saturday!) and the Backstage Lounge had a nice mix when we went for a Drum & Bass night a few months ago.
