Gila Road Trip

Spectacular! That's the word that best sums this weekend. There were five adventurous souls and a dog traveled to Silver City Friday. Silver City is a quaint western town with lots of art galleries and coffee shops in the downtown. Saturday we all hooked up at Gila National Monument. The cliff dwellings were incredible. There were about 10 rooms that we got to walk around. Afterward, there was an archeological tour of unexcavated land. This tour will only be available for one more week. Jeremy, Jenny Marie, and Koshari then left to go backpacking/camping in the wilderness. Their destination were some hot springs. There were several river crossings that they had to cross...that Koshari was none to happy about...but they all had a good time. Sunday, Helena, Patricia and I went over to the catwalk in Glenwood. The catwalk is a series of suspension bridges that cross over the river gorge about 7 times. Each corner we turned was more beautiful than the next with all the waterfalls and rapids that we saw, as well as the eagles flying overhead. On the way back, I drove through Apache National Forest. It was a combination of Skyline Drive in Va and El Capitan in Yosemite. A must if you haven't seen it! Thanks to all for going! Had a wonderful time...and would do this again in a heartbeat if anyone wants to go!!!
