Did one of your dreams ever rise up and become bigger than you? Well, that's what happened at my first offical public happy hour that I hosted on 12/7/04. I kept posting to different places hoping somebody, anybody would show up. I told Mikey, our leader in Meetin.org DC that if I could have 40 people, and that was pushing it at the time, I would be happy. When day zero came, I had over 40 people there. Over 40 people helped make this night special, and a lot of fun was had by all. We missed all the East Bay residents, and the 20's-30's parents that didn't make it out, and we hope that you can all be here next time. We are saving 263 places for you. That's how many members are on the East Bay Meetin site today at last count. Please note, there are two separate groups: The 20-30's and the 40's-50's. The next thing I did was think of who to thank for helping me make my way. I really didn't know anyone, but I knew when I got here I wanted to be a chairperson. Soon, I wrote to some people in San Jose, and one person in AZ. then, they told me about a guy in DC who runs the the organization. I wrote to him, and soon after, I got started. I made a vow back then I would send a special pic back to Mikey. It's supposed to read The East Bay Loves DC! Somehow the heart got faded, and you really can 't see it. The heart is there all the same. (It's the heart that beats on the inside of all of us, and it's better than any picture you take anyways). We are building a "meetin" city that is hard to build. It is very spread out, and it's hard to get everybody out of their homes this time of year. We are building it none the less, and it is not "dead". Bay Area, can you hear us now?
