First, for the attendees who sat on the sidelines-you can't learn to swing if you don't do a thing! ;)
Lessons at Sam's Burger Joint were fun, if a bit frustrating. Most of the group hung out at the tables because there weren't enough men! Messrs., you MUST attend the next one so we'll have people to practice with! It is virtually *guaranteed* that you'll be popular with the ladies for doing this! Put on your Zoot Suit, throw back a bottle of beer, and learn to Riot (*wince* Sorry, I had to do it!) We learned the rock step, the loop turn, the arch turn, and the side turn. We also made some new friends along the way! (Poor unknown gentleman who kept elbowing me during the side turn. . .) On this particular evening we ended up in a haze of Deep Woods OFF (thanks, Jose!) drinking the night away at the outdoor bar instead of dancing the night away because we just weren't confident enough to dance, dance, dance yet. After seeing the fun the people on the dance floor were having, I have every confidence that the more we go to these lessons the more fun it will be! So much fun! I was unsure of what to expect but the night turned out to be so much fun! I got to meet more members who didn't attend the happy hour event and I can't believe how everyone becomes instant friends! Even though I didn't participate in the lessons, I had alot of fun sitting with everyone on the patio laughing and talking. You guys are great and I am looking forward to actually trying to swing dance next time! |
