Wanna get in shape?
I have a passion for fitness and exercise that I'm always happy to share with other people. 20 years of fitness experience coupled with 12 years of working in the physical therapy professional has equipped me with the knowledge to help people begin or maintain an exercise program. I'm posting this message to see how many of my fellow members might be interested in attending an event in the future (at no cost) where I would lead a talk on starting an exercise program, answer questions etc. before leading the group through a workout. If there is enough interest, I will post an event for an upcoming weekend morning in an outdoor venue (probably Sugar House or Liberty Park)that could be combined with getting coffee before, breakfast after or both. In the mean time, enjoy the beautiful, sunny weather we're having! Carpe Diem, Mike

Planning on attending the 10:30am class at Crossfit tomorrow morning. I know it is short notice but if anyone is interested in coming out drop me a line. As you may have noticed, I posted another CrossFit workout for this coming Saturday, Feb 7th. I chose the 12noon class instead of the 10am class for two reasons: 1) the 10am class is probably the busiest class of the week, so can feel a bit "chaotic" for first timers. 2) the 12noon option allows those who like to sleep in 2 more hours sleep :p Hope you can make it!!!! I'm still hoping a few more people will come out and give CrossFit a try. I will be going 1-2times more this week-probably Thursday 1/22 at like 4:30p and Saturday 1/24 at 10am, though those days/times aren't written in stone. If you do come out, I'm certain you will find yourself doing things you wouldn't have thought possible. And isn't that part of life? Facing obstacles and tackling them head-on? Carpe Diem....Mike

While I normally go to Crossfit on Saturday mornings, this week I'm planning to try a Tuesday afternoon (1/13/09) session, either 4:30pm or 5:30pm. Hello All, it is the dawn of a new year. Many of you may have begun or hope to begin soon a journey towards a new, higher level of fitness-I have for sure (As I do most years). I would like to remind my fellow members about a new gym in our area that offers some of the best workouts-CrossfitNRG located at 2451s 600w (take 2100s or 2700s west to 600w to get there) I have been going once a week (I also workout at 24hr fitness) and can say even going once a week is making a difference in my fitness level. They have a policy of a free, no obligation trial class for first timers. If you are looking for something REAL, something that will make you GROW in terms of fitness, if you want to discover what you can achieve when you put your mind to it, please check this place out. I broke down and got a membership at 24Hour Fitness in Sugar House. If any of my fellow meetin members workout there and are interested in meeting up for a workout drop me a line. I will still be going about once a week to Cross Fit, so if you are looking for a challenge, I highly recommend trying it out!

I'm heading for another Crossfit workout this morning at 10am. If you are up for a challenge and want to push yourself to new levels the address is: 2451s 600w (take either 2100s or 2700s to reach 600w). Look for the sign for Universal Plaza and it is suite 200 around back. Get there a couple minutes before 10am to sign a waiver....

Went and did the 10am Workout Of the Day (WOD) at CrossfitNRG-it was awesome! There were 8 people total. James and Dave the two trainers took us through some warm up exercises and then split us into teams of 2 for a circuit workout made up of the following exercises: 400meter run, squats, pushups, 400m run, kettlebell swings, situps, burpees (these are diabolical!), then 400m run. There were 3 men and five women, ages ranged from mid-twenties to early 50s. The group workout is great, because along with the trainers motivating you, you motivate each other. Everyone survived by going at their own pace. I will go back again soon. Drop a line if you'd like to try it out or have any questions.

...a couple of people I know from outside the Meetin group will be joining me for the 10am Crossfit class tomorrow. I was assured by my buddy that anyone can take the classes, they will cater to individual fitness levels. There must be at least one person reading this who is free tomorrow at 10am and up for experiencing something new....once again, the address is 2451s 600w suite 200. As I mentioned, a friend of mine (james) has opened a Crossfit gym here in SLC. I am planning to attend a free trial/no obligation class there this Saturday morning. I'm shooting for the 10am class. They also offer a 11am "Beginner" class, but my friend has told me all of the classes are open to any fitness level-they will modify it for the individual. Note: They have just opened recently, so I'm guessing the number of people will be low even on a Saturday (no guarantee) which would mean a good trainer to student ratio. If you are interested in getting a killer workout, expanding your horizons and just a new experience in general drop me a line and we can try to meet up prior to the class so we arrive together. Who is familiar with Crossfit? Crossfit is a group personal training organization that has affiliates nationwide. A friend of mine just opened one here in SLC and I want to get some people together for a trial workout there. Generally the first visit is free/ no obligation. Checkout the website www.crossfit.com, view some of their "exercises and demos" videos (particularly the workouts of the day-WOD)If you are intrigued by what you see drop me a line and we can start planning a date to check the place out!!!

Looking to see who would be up for meeting for a morning workout this Saturday 8/23 at Sugar House Park. Would like to workout around 9am-10am (closer to 9am if it will hot). I would lead the workout and can adjust it to suit just about anyone's fitness level. Figure on 60-90minutes workout time. Drop me a message if you wanna get your sweat on. If, like me, you plan to attend the Rock N' Ribs event later that day this would be a good way to build an appetite :p
