Gallery Night at RISD Museum of Art Written By Bibi 04/21/2007 click for full size
Ten of us arrived at the RISD Museum of Art and took on the challenge to create a drawing or print of three beautiful live birds (one a mandarin duck and a pair of birds of unknown origin to me as I am writing this). The studio was packed when we finally found it and everyone picked their tools and settled in to create some art.
Marlo and Deanna (main picture) craftily created the now renowned 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 series; Jeff dusted off "the renaissance man within" and took to drawing with gusto and aplomb; Kris (pictured with Jeff) was a natural, as were Celia and Robert; Jeannie was pleased with her print and I was less so (the print of my duck looked more like a fish but apparently I can capture the depth of a cage like nobody's business). It was a lively time. Meghan and Will caught up with us later in the bar area (yes we did not have wine until AFTER the art lesson) in the museum's 20th century art room (there's a Calder there...!) where there was a woman playing the koto (Japanese zither). We pushed some tables together (in order to sit at the table you had to make a cheese run)and chatted for a while. Later, some of us wandered the galleries until closing. This was a very fun evening, and I would like to go on the record now to say that I would make some art again with any of these folks without hesitation! Thanks again to everyone that turned up and to Celia for being a most excellent co-host. More Photos

Please stay at least a foot away... I had a great time at this event! A big thanks to all who participated and extra kudos Bibi who did the bulk of the planning. Looking forward to putting together another one in the future... |

Artist? This was fun, Bibi & Celia! This was a great idea for an event. I can not draw but had fun trying and had a lot of laughs with everyone. Best of all, I have a Deanna original. It's a low numbered print too! LOL After having that wine & all of that cheese & crackers we took Jennie out for her birthday. It was a fun night all around. Thanks. |
