Foodies Unite!
Greetings all!
So i'm thinking of starting up a bi-weekly "Foodies Club" - basically we would just pick a new restaurant every 2 weeks to try out. Doesn't have to be pricey/swanky (in fact the cheaper and tastier the better!). Let me know if you're interested and what night(s) are best for you and I'll start posting a regularly occurring event! Would be great to have an official "co-host" in the event one of us is out of town or unable to attend on a given night.

Foodies Club activities
Hi Anne,
Because of the fact, that most of the activity of MeetInPrague folks takes place in facebook, I suggest to have a look at the Facebook group of MeetInPrague. Though MeetIn site should be the first one to look at, it took me again a couple of minutes to get through to this e-mail, because of the strange structure of MeetIn portal.
Just drop me a note here or find me on facebook, so that you can become included in upcoming foodies events.

It's all greek to me...
When it's hot outside a Retsina and some greek snacks are a real nice combination. Sounds good to me. Nevertheless, after experiencing "Planet Sushi" again at Andel, I like to suggest this location too. The desert rolls are delicious beyond your wildest imagination... ;-), now, whats the plan...?

Next Foodies event
What about trying a Greek restaurant. Taverna Olympos in Zizkov. Its a family run traditional Greek place. Lada and i went there a couple of years ago and the place is really good. It has an outdoor seating area, i think. Visit www.tavernaolympos.cz and see what you think. It has a couple of good reviews on expat.cz as well.

Yes, I'm definitely with you. Asian/Indian/Fusion cuisine is an excellent start for the foodies club. Actually I'm searching for a authentic Indian restaurant myself (you get spoiled, when living in India for a couple of years...)
So, let's go for it...

Hi Joanne,
Event hosting is not as scary as it seems and you and Lada are welcome to host together! ;)
Pakistani in Prague 8!?? You DO have to tell me where since that is right in my neighborhood as well (remember I am up in Bohnice) :) I absolutely love Asian/Indian cuisine and I also wouldn't mind to try the wings place.
So looks like we have some ideas to start.
Bjorn - are you up for trying the curry in Prague 8? If so, let's post it!

Hi Jennifer,
I've only just noticed this on the message board. I like the idea of a bi-weekly food event. I'd love (my partner Lada,too) to attend if an event is organised and maybe in the future i could organise one,too. (My confidence is finally starting to increase!!:-)
We've found really good curry at a Pakistani restaurant in Prague 8 and there's a great place for honey ribs and garlic wings in Zizkov. Both places aren't much to look at but the prices are good and the food is delicious.
Anyway, looking forward to the first event:-D

Sounds like a plan! And next week sounds like a good time to start :)
You can create an event here: http://www.meetin.org/city/MEETinPRAGUE/AddEvent.cfm we can both be co-hosts for this, if you create it, I'll edit it to reflect that.
I'm up for any non-Pizzeria or non-Czech style cuisine, as I've had my fill of both!
Let me know if you're comfortable with posting and choosing a venue - not anything too upscale as I think it would deter people from joining.

Sounds like a good idea to start with a posting and take it from there. So, how do we go about it? I'm not yet so familiar with the technicalities how to start a group posting, but I think it would be nice to get something off the ground maybe next week. Any special "cuisine" in mind?

First foodie event!
Hi Bjorn,
Glad to hear of your interest, but unfortunately not much feedback either here or on Facebook where I posted awhile back as well.
For events like this, I've found its easier just to post something and recruit a "regular" group later. Maybe if we start off with an inaugural foodie event others will join. For our sushi night which we had a few weeks back there were about 9 people. If we plan it, they will come! ;)

I like the idea of checking out new food places! From the date I can see, that there hasn't been so much feedback. Are you still planning something or have the activities shifted to facebook and I haven't recognized it yet?
