Bigfoot Camping Trip - Dec. 4-6th
Have you ever wondered if Bigfoot exists in Oregon? Now is your chance to go track em down!

My friend who runs the Portland Movie Tours Company is going camping! He's doing a Bigfoot Camping Trip and wants you to come with! Since he hasn't been to that many meetin events, he was afraid to post it, so I'm looking for others to help him with this event. He is not profiting from this, and only is doing this for fun and for new friends!

The trip is to Stub Stewart Park near Vernonia, OR but everyone will be carpooling in his mini-bus there from a park and ride in Portland. (probably Barbur Blvd. or Oaks Park.)

I'm actually looking for people who might want to host (or co-host) this as a Meetin event. I already had plans this weekend made, and I might not be able to alter them, this is why I'm putting it out there for interest/help in hosting this. It sounds super-cool, and I can connect you up with my friend so you can work on organizing this together.

Here are the details:
It will be during December 4th-6th. My friend is providing transportation via his "movie tours" bus, reservation for camping and/or cabin rental depending on how big the group is, Bigfoot movies, tours of the area, Food including a Spaghetti dinner, Bacon and Eggs breakfast, Hot Dogs for lunch, all the marshmallows you can put on a stick, bottled water, and camping wood. He is reserving camping space. There is room on the bus for 5 people to sleep, and room in the cabin for 5 people. There is room in a tent for 5 people (though it is not a cold weather rated tent). If a bigger group is interested, he would rent an extra cabin (cabins are heated). The cost is only $15 a night including all that is mentioned above.

Here is a list of what attendees should bring:
What to bring: Sleeping Bag (freezing temp rated), bedding, layers of clothes,
rain gear, hiking boots, beverages, your Bigfoot DVD’s, and stories of your own
encounter with Sasquatch!

Let me know if you'd be interested in tracking a Bigfoot. This is a unique event that would be cool on our calendar! I can send you more details if you are interested.

Wish I could, but this is the weekend prior to my 3 finals for the term. Otherwise I would love to go hunt sasquatch... if they do it some other time and I'm available, I'd love to go!!!

a lot of people did not read that he has rented a heated cabin, overflow sleeping is in a tent, or on the bus, which with the right sleeping bag is not a problem at all. My 2 cents.

This sounds great and I would have hosted it, since it sounds so much fun, but I have already plans for this weekend. I would be more than happy to host it any other time if he wants to do this again.

But it's just too darn cold for me to camp in the winter. I'm with Amy...if he happens to want to do this again during the summer, count me in!

at 11/07/09 10:16:11 -- anymore interest?

I need to get more interest in this before I post it. I was hoping to even find a host for this because I'm unable to become involved that specific weekend. Is there anyone out there still interested? If so please call my friend Dan at 503-686-8113. You can also call me at 503-639-2102 if you have any questions too, but he is the essentially coordinator of this new trip option. His site is the following:

I hosted a couple of his movie tours through Meetin last spring and he gave us $10 off each ticket, so he's occasionally able to work discounts with us as a group. Everyone seemed to really enjoy his tours, and he is always looking for feedback and info. to improve his tours. I will probably work with him this spring to organize a few more events with meetin events, and I am sure he will negotiate his prices for a meetin discount. If you enjoy movies, or know of visitors to Portland please check his company out.

Reply by Andy at 10/28/09 11:22:05 -- Questions, Questions!

Is it possible to camp in my travel trailer (25')? Can I bring my dogs along (I realize this would interfere with actually making contact with bigfoot)! I am a vegetarian, any non-meat food to eat as a group?
Thanks, I am trying to get my meetin' feet wet here.

at 10/28/09 7:14:25 -- Yes to Bigfoot! No to December-

I would LOVE to go on a bigfoot search but I'm a fair weather camper so December isn't going to work for me. The crazy thing is-- I actually attended a search for bigfoot non-credit, just for fun-class at PCC many, many years ago. At the end of the 3 or 4 week class we were supposed to go on a hike to look for him and I wasn't able to make it that last day. I've always regretted it. If your friend wants to post this again in the spring or summer--I would definetly be in.

If you are interested in this camping trip but can't take Friday off of work, it's still doable. It can be arranged for just December 5th and 6th, if you have work conflicts. My friend and his wife are flexible with this.
