Coffee and Donuts!

Seriously awesome donuts, a great experience learning about and tasting coffee, and super company and conversation. Put together that makes an excellent morning in the Strip. The morning brought me bright and early to the Strip District and specifically Peace, Love, and Little Donuts where I was met by Victoria, Monika, Jim, Meighan, Lynn, Elisabeth, Carol, WC, Jenn, Jon, Mike, Annette, Jan, and Christina (some of whom aren't in the pictures as they arrived after the group shot).

You must try these donuts. Along with some of my fellow Meeps I've earned a reputation as a cupcake fiend. Donuts may just bump cupcakes down my list of preferred treats if they're all as good as Peace, Love, and Little Donuts. The Donuts really are little -- we each got the "big" donuts which were pretty small. What's cool is that they made the donuts fresh for us. Hot, covered with whatever toppings or glazes we choose, and oh so good. So good that someone put the 5-second rule into effect when half her donut tragically fell down. We were there with her -- I have a feeling most of us would've done the same.

Then it was down and across the street to La Prima's offices. Some of the group abandoned us (Ren Faire calling), but other folks joined us including Julia (first meetin event!), Jacqueline, and Michele. Here we learned everything we ever wanted to about coffee. The characteristics of different growing regions, how coffee is grown and picked, how to store and best make coffee, and much more.

It was good, because I feel like I was able to figure out the general coffees and characteristics that I like. Then it was on the roaster, where we got to see the roasting process in action, how green coffee beans are transformed into the roasted coffee we all know and love. We all then got to leave with a bag of roasted coffee which I am currently letting breathe but will probably make in the morning. Then it was on to Monika's lunch at Kaya. All in all it was a fun, informative, and foodie-licious day!

Don't burn the beans!
It is always a good time when someone invokes the minute forty five second rule and eats something off the sidewalk in the Strip... HA!

Monika
Fellow Meep cupcake fiends?
I have no idea who you're talking about

Elisabeth
OMG
Delicious.

Jennifer
Jenn and Jon!
So good to "see" Jenn and Jon. And thank you to Victoria for bringing some of those donuts to the REI garage sale. Meeps rock!

Jennifer
Mmm
I'm really glad you brought this somewhat hidden little place to our attention - it was great! And you know you all would have eaten your donut off the sidewalk if you dropped it...
