Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Written By Sara 07/20/2009 click for full size
Thanks to Priscilla, Traci and Mark who joined me for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix in Schenley Park Sunday afternoon! Pete and Carol also made it out and viewed the races from the Vietnam Veterans’ Pavilion area. The rest of us spent most of our time in the main concourse area between turns 13 and 17 near the Serpentine. We enjoyed seeing all the beautiful vintage cars, watching some exciting racing (including an Alfa Romeo roll-over incident at turn 9 that resulted in the race being red-flagged and then black-flagged) and sampling all the free food & drink, including free Crown Royal Cocktails, Turkey Hill ice cream and Laughing Cow cheese snacks. The weather was absolutely perfect for an afternoon in the park – 75 degrees and mostly sunny with low humidity. This isn’t Pittsburgh. Is this Pittsburgh?

Thanks, Sara What a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon outside in Schenley Park on a sunny day. The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is always a great event and so well organized. With the dedication of about 1,200 volunteers, the PVGP has been able to donate over $2.4 million to the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and Allegheny Valley School since 1983. attracting car enthusiasts |

Nice pics! This was my first year at the Grand Prix. Once I got my non-sports-car parked and found Pete at the Vets Pavilion I stayed there for viewing and chatting. Today, talking to Meep Tim, I learned about all the other stuff that I missed that you guys obviously found! Next year I'll have to sample some of those goodies! Thanks for posting the event, Sara! Yes, glorious, glorious weather - as your pics show so well! |
