Event Hosted By Sara Link To Event Start slideshow 3rd Annual White Water Weekend Written By Sara 06/24/2009 click for full size Our 3rd annual whitewater rafting weekend down in Ohiopyle was our largest one yet, with 46 paid rafters and ~60 people total between the Trillium Lodge and the Scarlett Knob campground. We had Meeps from Pittsburgh, Baltimore, New York, New Orleans and D.C. come in for the fun. The weather was not as cooperative as in previous years. With a week of rains and rain the night before, the river was running over 4 feet, so everyone got a guide-in-boat for extra safety. The trip went much faster (under 3 hours), but it sounded like everyone still had fun. The clouds took a break just in time for the Beer & Gear Fest, and we all enjoyed a warm, sunny afternoon of friends, live music and $15 all-you-can-drink craft beer. A downside to all of this happy togetherness is that we apparently shared a highly contagious stomach virus with each other, and at least 12 of us came down with acute gastroenteritis. Sorry to anyone who got sick! :-( I didn't take many pictures this weekend, so feel free to post links to your photos if you want to share. A HUGE THANKS to Kent from Baltimore for taking the lead in organizing the Scarlett Knob camping group!!! The weekend couldn't have happened without your help! I will not be organizing a 4th annual trip. If anyone wants to volunteer to take over the event, please let me know, and I can share all of my files and "lessons learned" with you. The Trillium Lodge needs to be reserved no later than October if you want to guarantee having the lodge. More Photos

Shiraz	Good Times Sara Almost didn't want to drive back to VA. What a great group of people ! I was glad to see my own views of people change for the better over the weekend and some unexpected friendships. The beer and gear event was surreal to say the least but still fun.

Colleen	You are the best organizer I know everyone had a good time. I didn't raft but enjoyed the down time on the huge deck and enjoying the view. These type of events leads to more talk time with each other, which I prefer to loud bars. The other bonus was that after drinking, you simply went to your bed an slept...no driving home. I'd do it again despite getting the dreaded T.L.P., as Tom refers to it. :) Thanks again Sara. ( I did however miss Cyd, Brian and Michelle on this trip.)
