Kennywood!

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood for a great group of people to meet up for the 2nd Annual Memorial Day at Kennywood. Rick and I arrived to find an anxious group waiting for us: (Sug) Michelle, Jerry, (Superman) John, (Hiking) Joe, Anthony, (Biking) Jenn, Denise, Justin, (Krazy) Michelle and Star, Timothy, Kathy and Nicole, Terri and kids (who were already on the Turnpike!). We were soon met by (Good Buddy) John and Lisa who checked in to say hi then headed off for their first of 11 Thunderbolt rides. Our group soon headed off for our first ride on the Phantom – only a 15 minute wait! Yay! A few of us then headed off to the Exterminator (sorry, Rick!). By the time we finished with the Exterminator, Brian B, (Red) Michele, Darla, Scott, and Dave had all arrived. By then, we were ready to cool off and were anxiously awaiting the opening of the Pittsburgh Plunge. Some of us went for TWO rides as we didn’t feel wet enough! We then took our soggy butts to the Pitfall which gave us a great bird’s eye view of the area (well, those of us who had our eyes open!). We made our way out of Lost Pittsburgh and headed over to ride the Thunderbolt. Colleen caught up with us here, and because we weren’t wet enough, we then hit the Raging Rapids. At the Potato Patch, we ran into Jess who came to the park with Quinn and family. We ran into Joe and Helen who had caught up and were riding with GB John and Lisa. Ty joined us later in the afternoon for a few rides.

We had a great day at the park. Those who enjoyed riding were able to ride pretty much everything at least once. Those who chose not to ride had company on the benches. We enjoyed potato patch fries, lemonade, ice cream, and funnel cake. The park was not at all crowded. The longest line was for the Phantom, and was longest for our second trip, due to the necessary bodily fluid cleanup (someone had suffered a nose bleed).

It was a great day to spend with great friends. I finished my visit to the park with my traditions – a “fortune” from the fortune teller in the arcade, a funnel cake, and cotton candy for my kids.

My “fortune”

Oh how you love to whistle and sing
Oh how you love to dance and swing
Your future life with joy will ring
With all the happiness it will bring

It was agreed that this is a great “annual” event, so the 3rd Annual Memorial Day at Kennywood has been added to next year’s calendar. You can see the “save the date” and RSVP
HERE. Hope you can join us next year!

K-wood!
It's the most fun I've had there since I was a kid. Thanks, Barb!

I am
one of the non riders and it was a great time! I enjoyed being able to be with those who sadly could not ride!! Best day ever...I will go next year if anyone else is on the wussy end! My girl should be settled by then, so I can't use her as a loafing excuse!

Waterlogged
Waterlogged body is almost dried out now. had best time ever at Kennywood, was great being with and riding with all ya. Plan on going each Memorial Day from now on. May even have my ashes scattered from top of Pitt Fall after that fateful day arrives. Hopefully on 60th or later annual Memorial Day K-Wood event when I'll be 100+ years old then. Gonna be like John's T-Bolt Gig next memorial day except mine will be to top water ride totals. Had 4 Rapids, 2 Plunges and 1 Log Jammer total. Looking to hit 8 or more total next year. Come on, join me & Mermaid Michelle in being soaked all day, you know ya wanna.

John
We had to stop at 11...
...because Lisa got tired. Wussy. ;) We've decided that we're gonna ride the Thunderbolt more times each time we go this year. And on Fright Nights, we're gonna blow our record outta the water.
