Race for the Cure

Despite it being an early Sunday morning AND Mother’s day, many meeps came out to walk or run and show their support for Race for the Cure. I arrived at the Christopher Columbus Statue and Justine was already waiting. We were soon joined by Bob, Tony, Jan, Colleen, and Michele (who had worked ALL night and still came out to walk!) It took about an hour or possibly longer to finish the race due to the thousands of participants. But it was inspiring to see those thousands of people walking and running to support Breast Cancer cure research. After the walk was complete, we walked around to sample some of the freebies, and later ran into Kim and Jenn. Cyd and kids were also there supporting the cause, but arrived a bit late to meet for the group photo. Joe K (aka hiking Joe), Teresa, Angela, Lisa, Lynn, Chris and Marnie are not pictured, but ran/walked the course and show their support. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit chilly (and I was too!) so the group spilt up to go home, eat, nap, or enjoy other Mother’s Day activities. Thanks to all the meeps who collected pledges, got out of bed early, braved the crowds and traffic hassles to do a great deed! Special thanks to Justine, who took all of the pictures. :)

Thanks!
I can't say thank you enough for coming out. According to my calorie counter, all the walking (to and from the car and to the starting line, etc) burned about 1,000 calories!

Cure
The post gazette reported that 33,000 people were there! It was amazing to see that crowd walking through Oakland/Squirrel Hill (my first time). Nancy - thanks for organizing this. It was a lovely morning, walking with friendly meeps!

Great Event
It certainly was a gorgeous day for the Race. I was glad I was able to meet up with most of you after. Too bad we had that little cold spell that drove us all away. Thanks, Nancy, for getting Team MiPGH together!!!

Cyd
great day
We tried to catch up with you guys but were too late. What a beautiful day. It's always such an inspiring and poignant race. I hope even more people do it next year!

Tony
Cure
Thanks for planning, Nancy. It would have been impossible for us to meet up otherwise in that crowd. Glad I could walk with some fellow MEEPs.
