Event Hosted By Chelsea Link To Event Start slideshow The Christmas Story House Written By Chelsea 12/21/2008 click for full size What a gorgeous day to travel up to Cleveland, OH to see The Christmas Story House! Dana and Kelly (newer members to meetin, but came in through the rowing team) joined me on the road trip up north. We got to Cleveland around 1pm and quickly found that we were at the house! The block was blocked pretty much cars and people walking everywhere. We headed in to get our tickets and then headed into the house for the self-guided tour! The inside of the house was equipped with leg lamp in box, leg lamp in the window, the radio (with bowling trophy on top), Christmas tree w/bowling ball underneath, the burning turkey, soap bar WITH teeth marks and so much more! It was really like being there in the movie! After touring the house we headed over the museum and learned some pretty interesting facts about the movie. The main part of the movie was filmed in a sound stage in Canada (the inside house parts), most outside parts were also filmed in Canada because of the more snow thing, but the house was filmed there in Cleveland. We also learned about why they picked the house and much more! While they weer actually filming it, the house was a duplex and the front room was bedroom.. so that's why when you see the house in the movie the front curtains are pulled shut. We eventually headed to the gift shop and picked up some fun goodies. We were going to do lunch in the Chinese restaurant, but it was closed until 5pm! Oh well! So instead we did lunch elsewhere and headed back down to Pittsburgh! It was a fun trip and well worth it!
