Event DetailsWelcome to the third season of cityLIVE! Join the second event of the new season to examine the streamlining of government services - Who Benefits? City County consolidation is a big, top down idea. We’ve worked on it locally for years now and are told there are many valuable efficiencies to gain from such a consolidation. In the meantime, while we are waiting, are there ways to streamline government services from the bottom up? Should we wait for the big prize, or should we be chipping away at consolidating smaller chunks that may eventually add up to the big prize? A panel of experts will present and discuss their ideas for effectively streamlining government services today. They include Kathleen McKenzie, deputy county manager for Allegheny County; Moe Coleman, professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and of Urban Studies; and Sala Udin, president and CEO of Coro Center for Civic Leadership; and moderated by Laura Ellsworth, partner at Jones Day. cityLIVE! is a fun, free monthly series of events tackling some of the most challenging issues facing our region with a goal of information sharing, networking, and uncovering innovative solutions. Launched in September, 2007 with wide ranging support from various non-profit foundations, cityLIVE! has become a unique forum for bringing people together to further stimulate our region. Depending on the topic, cityLIVE! forums attract 100-300+ people for lively presentations by invited panel speakers. Expect humor ... but also frank commentary, in-depth insights, and lively Q&A discussions with audience participants. Afterwards, people can relax or continue conversations and social networking while enjoying drinks and food in the lobby.
