11.11 Maastricht Canaval Event Post
Hi all,
I just posted an event for 11.11 Maastricht Canaval. Hereby you may find what we're going to do on that day! Please don't hesitate to RSVP!!!
Program – Practical info – Dressing up – Schminck workshop
Practical info
Maastricht advises all foreigners (non-Maastrichtians) to come to the city by public transport, since forty thousand people are expected to celebrate 11th of 11 this year. From Maastricht central station Vrijthof Square is about twenty minutes walking. Taking a bus will be hardly helpful.
It is allowed to bring in own drinks (beer) and food on the square, however, not in glass. We recommend taking cans. It may be quite hard to get cheap beer in shops. ALBERT HEIJN on the station will be open. By tradition we recommend our own Limburgian beers: Brand, Gulpener, Alfa, Hertog Jan and Wieckse Witte. Of course all you want to drink and eat is also available on the festival area itself.
Program 11th of 11
-Gather at Vrijthof Square 11-12h, Brasserie Monopole, Vrijthof 3
-Attending the 11th of 11 Carnival music festival 12h-17h, Vrijthof Square
-14h: Maastricht city tour (about 2 hrs), or stay at the Carnival music (group may split)
-Dinner at One of ognizers’ place (Marten) 17-20h
-Evening Carnival party ~ pub crawl 20-??h
Dressing up
YES, you are supposed to be dressed up on the 11th of 11. We suggest just a big colourful hat, or shawl or gloves will do. Dressing up completely weird (such as a knight, clown, prince, dragon, bear, whatever) can be nice as well :) :). A box with dress up stuff can be found at Marten’s, and you could dress up there (400 meter from the station).
Schminck workshop
What about a bit of colourful decoration on the face ;). We are looking for anyone among you who can make such nice schminck decorations, and if you like, we’ll claim a table on the Vrijthof square, sponsor a few drinks for you, so that you can express yourself decorating us ;). Schminck will be available.

Big, big thank you to Frank who organized 11.11 Canaval Maastricht event.
I had such a great time at both dinner and canaval. Fantastic!
Thanks to Holly who showed up for the event too although she didn't resvp here. It's nice to see meeting/gathering organized by Maastricht group is going on.
We should surely do more for this group.
