Weekend on the isle of Wight Written By Celine 08/07/2007 click for full size Superbly organised, the weekend started in Waterloo on Friday after work, where we took the train to Portsmouth Harbour. Then, after a short time in the ferry, we arrived on the island. Getting a taxi for all of us and reaching the B&B was a little bit more challenging. Thanksfully, everyone was really kind to us! The B&B was simple but clean, located just by the cliff of the south side of the island. And the breakfast was huuuge - well, exactly what we needed to face the 20min walk to the bus stop, the hill walking to visit Carisbrooke's castle on Saturday morning, reaching the east side of the island for 2 hours of sea-kayak on the afternoon, a bit of food shopping at Morrisons, a short altercation with local policewomen for drinking in a public place!, and finally spending a delicious evening on the beach staring at the stars and singing. On Sunday, we split in 2 groups, the French reenacted the 1377-invasion of the island by walking from the B&B to the Needles via the coastal path while the others hit the town. Then it was time to go back to London. Spending a weekend on the IOW was not only the opportunity to get away from the big smoke and breathe some fresh air but also to get to know each other better. How else would we have learnt what moisturizer Franck and Panna use, that Celine used to dance the Cancan or that Alexandra does not like beans? (Photos are Franck's) More Photos

Still sun-burnt! I added a few photos. It was a great week-end! We'll have to ask Panna what his moisturiser is, thanks for letting me use it but I don't remember the name :-). It was a cool week-end, I really enjoyed the kayak, the singing on the beach, the (5 hour) coastal path walk (we finally found a pub at the end!)... Hope to see everyone soon! |

Wow! Looks like you guys had a fantastic time. I'm so jealous that I couldn't join you. Out of curiosity, what moisturizers do Franck and Panna use? :-) |
