Bars of Soap, with a Side of Pierogies Written By Nora 10/16/2005 click for full size
Friday night, the 14th, we met up at a great Santa Monica eatery that I've been wanting to try, ever since I moved to LA, three years ago. It was the Warszawa Restaurant, on the corner of Lincoln and Santa Monica Boulevards. About 11 of us made it to the table, Scott, Gennifer (sans mom), new member Ricardo, Adam, Tom, Bridget, Greg, Aki, Hilary, eventually Richard, and, of course, moi!
Pierogies filled many of our bellies, of course, and we also got some prunes prepared some way, and wrapped with bacon (believe it or not, these were really tasty!), complements of the house! We also got an assortment of other things, including salmon, filet mignon, and, the ever famous duck, which Tom ordered, on advice of our fantastic waitress. Plenty of Polish beer also flowed, of course, it was a MEETin event! Adam attempted to teach us some Polish phrases. He got as far as "thank you" and a toast, but, some of our members had already been ensnared by the siren's call of the aforementioned beer, so the results were, let's just say, "interesting." Afterwards, some finished with dessert, but, they were out of blueberry pierogies for me. Booo! Guess I'll just have to go back! Perhaps, when I do, the eternal question can be answered: More Photos

Yay! Nora, thanks for organizing this dinner, it was a fun night! That pic of Tom is hilarious! Just wish I didn't have a dinner to go to beforehand and that I could remember how to say "thank you" in Polish. (that was some strong Polish beer) |
