Observing it all!!! Written By G 02/17/2007 click for full size
Our small band of intrepid space cadet's met on a beautiful Saturday, it was warm, and we were giddy with the hope that the newly renovated Griffith Park Observatory would be all that it was hyped to be.
Scott (know for such action movies as Kayaks Ho! and Cloning for dummies), Stephanie (at her very first event!), and Julianna (who loves the Pete's coffee lemme tell you) met with your own humble Badger and we proceeded to see all that was space related. There was a camera obscura, exhibits of solar and lunar patterns, and a cosmic ray cloud chamber. There were telescopes of all sizes, planet weight scales and simulation of meteors striking the earth and laying waste to all civilization....it was fantastic. Our intrepid group then went to see the planetarium show, Julianna was hoping for Pink Floyd and lazers,no such luck. The narrator for the show was amazing, she had a dialogue and a voice that was straight out of a really good audio book...The chairs were comfortable, the story was engrossing, I think even Julianna warmed up to the show at then end...(next time, 800 watt lazers and dark side of the moon) What, that wasn;t enough?? You need more excitement?...well lemme give you two words gentle reader...TESLA COIL!!!! Oh yea Meetin Laers...a device that lets you throw lightning like a greek god! I got films, that I will upload...lightning! We were impressed...I myself wanted one for the house. We learned a little about the great man himself from the very informative guide, and watched the lightning...it was beautiful... All in all dear readers...it was a blast all we needed was you, I hope you all go at least once. Sure its a trip..but I gotta say it is so worth it. More Photos
