Superman Loves Sushi !!!!!!!

Well, this double-header event starred not only the man of steel, but magical flying fish roe and x-ray eel. This was a great adventure . . . . so great I only now can calm myself enough to tell you about it. ; )

Amanda, Amy, and I - a bit too early for Kyoto - kicked things off with a quick toast and few clicks across the way at Carrabba’s before meeting Ciel and settling into our secluded, spacious, and sunken room at Kyoto. The room was cozy with faux rice-paper sliding doors and comfy backs. Alas the room was probably not soundproof; maybe we should have gotten the neighboring sushi fans a sake bomb for their pains.

The hungry foursome couldn’t resist and soon ordered some hot and cold appetizers which came just in time for the arrival of Shane and our fearless, camera-wielding, BW's and Gingerman's regular: David.

The service and food were great, but I suggest Jack Daniels, Asahi, Jameson’s, or sake in place of soft drinks. The sake – shared by Shane and yours truly – was fun to “ikki” along with our assortment of rolls, sashimi, bento boxes, udon, and such . . .

We made it out of Kyoto around 8:30ish after cooling down with some green tea and plum ice cream. Got up to The Movie Tavern at about 8:45 and had an hour to drink . . . I mean kill.

We were joined by Kyle and James. The boys – all but Ciel and Kyle guilty – found an awesome beverage deal in the Tavern Towers, which were an 80 oz. personal beer dispenser with a closed, ice-filled core. I managed to kill mine, but lost track of the consumption of the others after their 3rd . . . or was it 4th.

The Movie Tavern is a very cool spot with executive desk chairs and bench-style tables or more traditional theater seats with cocktail type tables. Bonus – lifting arms for that cozy couple feel. : ) Great fried pickles, sundaes, bottomless soft drinks and popcorn to boot.

The film was good . . . this reviewer gives it about 3 stars. Some nice surprises and good casting with Spacey making an awesome Lex Luthor.

All had a great time from what I could see. Looking at making it back there again real soon (ok, I’ve been there 3 weekends in a row now). I hope MiH will be there again soon.

Cheers! Jason

Great times!
Kyoto was a blast- though I'm sure the ENTIRE restaurant heard our conversations ... Movie Tavern is so much fun. In fact, we've been back the last two weekends since this event!
