$1 Hot Dogs, Part Deux: Astros vs. Nationals

It wasn't too long ago that Amanda hosted the first $1.00 Hot Dog Astros game... and it was a blast. So, it was time to do it again. This time I got the honors of hosting (thanks Amanda!).

We started out at The Balcony, which is located on the third floor above The Home Plate Bar. The first to show up was Judy... a true delight!! I arrived shortly, and then Sonia. Tonya, Jana, and Mina were close behind. This was my first time to meet both Judy and Jana, but I'm glad I did. I had a great time with them, and I hope they had a good time with us as well.

We had a few brews... Judy skipped the minor leagues and dove straight into the frozen 'ritas. :) The Balcony is usually the place we meet before the game. It's a tradition I started with JimmyJimJim some time ago. Back then The Balcony had $2.50 tall boys, or $3.00 for some 'fancy' brands. We would meet up at The Balcony an hour and a half before a game and get our cheap brew on. That way you don't get your paycheck taken away from you when purchasing beer while inside Minute Maid Park. The theory being that you'd have your fill before going into the ball park. As with most theories... a theory is all it was.

Okay... back on track...

We met outside the ticket office and waited for Ivy, who showed up just in time for us to roll into the park and take our seats. The tickets were only $7.00. The hot dogs were only $1.00. And we really didn't drink all that much at all in there... so I think it was a pretty inexpensive time for all. :) A first for me.

As we sat down we were talking to each other and totally missed the top of the first inning... when the Nationals ran FIVE home. ouch!! The Astros spent the rest of the game playing catch-up. And they almost did it -- they were just one run shy of going into additional innings. Oh well. There were some good runs, and some really great hits.

I remember Judy making a comment about E.T. -- and I remember it was really funny, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was in reference to. Maybe Sonia remembers.

Regardless, Jana and Ivy sat in front and chatted the night away, as Mina and Tonya did a combo chat/watch. Judy, Sonia and I held the back row down while I tried to figure out how the Astros were going to pull this game off -- Sonia was just watching all her boyfriends go to bat -- and Judy was cracking me up with her E.T. comment.

Thanks to everyone for coming by. Jana and Ivy suggested a possible soccer event -- and I'm with them 100%. They may not have $1.00 hot dogs there, but I'm sure it would be fun.
