Event Hosted By David Amanda Link To Event Start slideshow Couch Potato Olympics / Amanda's Surprise Birthday Written By David 06/10/2007 click for full size This event was a dual-event. First, it was the 'tryouts' for a new series: The MiH Couch Potato Olympics. Sound fun? You bet. For those of us who find the sport of doing laundry to be a bit of a workout we've created a new series of fun events. Bowling... pool... laser tag... you name it. Aside from being the first Couch Potato Olympics, it was also a surprise birthday party for one of our favorite members: Amanda!! Of course, she had no clue what we were doing. It was mastermind thinking all along... with Jason doing much of the legwork (and massive eMailing), Tracy getting all of the props, cake, balloons, etc., in order, Tonya assisting with the logistics and crowd control, and me pretty much just sitting on my lazy rear. Oh... I did make the logo, so I guess that counts for something. Plus, I got the opportunity to toss out tidbits of information that would keep Amanda in the dark as to the 'dual' part of the event. The MeetIn RSVPers met up at the bar at The Main Event, while the others hid out in a private room in the back. When Amanda and Jason arrived we had a few laughs and then Jason gave her a birthday card... which explained, somewhat, what was going on. She was still a bit confused. We then took Amanda to the private room where everyone else was. Pizza, sodas, cake, can decorations greeted her along with a room full of her friends. Good times. :) Amanda mentioned that she wanted to go bowling a while ago... which is what brought the idea about. Not only did we have a full evening of bowling goodness, but we added another surprise -- we'd created a bowling team... The Pandamandas!! Not only that, but we signed up for an actual bowling league (playing every Monday night). It's the gift that keeps on giving. A special thanks goes to Jason, who about worked himself into several heart attacks (almost dragging the rest of us down with him) over some of the logistics of the event, all the while narrowly dodging a couple hickups from other people that almost exposed the entire plot. Jason	Speechless???? : ) SURPRISE!!!!! We made it. Whew . . .! Thanks to all of you who made it out to help us celebrate another year in the life of our effervescent and amazing Amanda! I just love the picture of her smiling by her cake : ) Well, Amanda, my dear “Gotcha”! and very happy for that : ) I truly hope that you had a great night. Amanda	THANK YOU! I was honestly so surprised- and cannot thank all of you enough. It was such a fun evening, spent with a lot of people who I love dearly ... it was perfect!! How y'all managed to pull off was great- I am, after all, the nosiest person in the world and I suspected nothing!! Everyone needs to come out on Monday evenings to the AMF Lanes in The Woodlands to see us sporting some great shirts. Oh yeah, and we bowl ... in between drinks. ;) But seriously, THANK YOU so very much to Jason, David, Katie, Tracy, Tonya and everyone else ... it was a perfect birthday surprise.
