EASY 1-2-3s for Hosting an Event!
Look how easy it is! Help keep us active!
1. Choose an activity you've already planned to do, but are just looking for others to join you. For example, if you already had plans to check out an art exhibit, then you don't necessarily have to come up with anything "new" just for the group. You already have an "event" ready to go.
2. Bring a friend. That way, if for some reason, all the people who RSVP-ed are kidnapped by alien beings, you can still have fun doing the activity with your buddy.
3. Post the event on our calendar. You don't have to be already an Event Planner to post an event. Just do it! If you have questions, drop me or Seema a message.
Thanks to Bill from MEETinPHOENIX, who got it from Sue in Miami and whoever she got this from in LA! :)
Thanks everyone for posting such great events. Kheng Swee, Badri, and Michael are all new event planners off to GREAT starts. (Please look out for their events--they should be terrific!) Of course, I know I join everyone else in looking forward to Liz, Shawn, Pam, David, Manish, Kari, Sonia, DP, Seema, and Alirio's next great events.
I thought the info below would be helpful for reference as all of our active members (attended approx 3 or more events) are encouraged to post more events. Please feel free to contact me, Marie, Seema, or Alirio if you have any problems posting. I'm happy to help, even after I'm in DC.
1. Title. Give your event a title that clearly tells everyone what the event is about.
2. Date/Time. Try to avoid posting events before fixing the date or time.
3. Directions. Give clear, step by step directions to the meeting place
4. Where to Meet/Location. Give attendees a clear, easy to find meeting place (ex: at the back table
with the MiH sign on it) – you don’t want anyone not being able to find you! Have a good “primary” photo of you on your profile.
5. RSVPs. Consider your RSVP options. Make it clear if you will have an RSVP cut-off by a certain date/time.
6. E-mails. Send at least one, but at most two, “update” emails to give them last minute details – be
mindful of those who do not check e-mail every 30 seconds!
7. Contacting You. Consider whether to put down your contact info (cell) or whether
you will e-mail it. Tell attendees when you will be sending your contact information.
