Light the Night 2009 Written By Laura 10/15/2009 click for full size After getting our wrist bands and T-shirts, we all headed to the balloon tent to get started on our job of blowing up around 500 balloons. This year seemed to go more smoothly than any other year in the past. We had 3 helium tanks instead of 2 so we didn't run out of helium until later in the night, and we had enough string for all the balloons. We got to work cutting strings, attaching the strings to the balloons, filling the balloons with helium, and finding a way to prevent the balloons from flying away. We even had time to turn all the lights on before the people started coming to get their balloons. After handing out balloons to all the event participants we were able to enjoy the waterpark. Things have changed since last year since the park is now owned by wetnwild. We enjoyed the new raging river ride where everyone sits together in a tube. We might have been over the weight limit, but luckily we didn't go over the side as some of us predicted. The ride formerly known as the volcano express was also open, with added twists at the top. We also played in the adult hot tub. The kiddie pool included amazing fun going under the mushroom, sitting on the volcano spout, and screaming on the wild and crazy slides. After leaving the waterpark, some of us headed to Anna Millers to enjoy their late night food and pie. Thanks to everyone who showed up the volunteer and make this another successful event for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! Attendees: Anna, Carolyn, Chad (+friend), Christine, Damon, Dave, Donna, John, Laura, Mike, Teo, Yana, Yen More Photos |
