Ala Wai Cleanup July09

So we had one of the biggest turn out in history of MiH helping with the Sierra Club Ala Wai CleanUp. We had about 20 or so MiH members help out, and also people from the Sierra club, Ala Wai Boat owners, UH members, and UCLA Alumni's! With a record breaking turnout, we also had record breaking amounts of trash! Well actually, the trash was on the lower side for once. Apparently, we now have a competition with OCCC in cleaning up the waters.

Nevertheless, there was enough trash to make it worthwhile and having us feeling accomplished. Some of our highlights included Michael finding a un-opened can of SPAM! Michael actually opened the can and made proof that SPAM is good even after swimming in the Ala Wai.

Afterwards, we headed down to Shorebirds for a breathtaking $6 breakfast buffet on the beach. Thanks again for helping out! The next cleanup will be in October some time. Watch out for the post!
