Unfortunately, it turned out to be a windy, cold, rainy day for pontooning. When we arrived at the Marina we were optimistic the weather would clear up but took a turn for the worse as we motored our way out of the harbor. After 30 minutes out on the boat, sheets of rain started coming down and the waves started to splash over our bow. In the distance a fog of rain blanketed coconut island and the sand bar was no where in sight. With everybody drenched and no where to hide on the boat for protection we decided to turn back to the Marina. Once back, we ate a little lunch and waited to see if we could salvage the day. When the sky started to clear we gave it one more try and headed back out to the sand bar. On our way there the rain started back up again but we managed to make it to the sand bar. With only three boats around us, it looked like a deserted island. After swimming for a little while and tossing the football around we returned to the Marina. Once back on dry land some of us made our way over to Mama's Island Pizza in Kailua for dinner. Yes, it was quite an eventful day but everybody survived and wasn't deterred in trying this out another day :)

Is this how Gilligan's Island got started??? At least you didn't have to make a crash landing on Coconut Island. Be really surreal. THat's too bad. Looks like everyone still had a blast though!
