Labor Day BBQ @ Sand Island 9/1 Written By Michael 09/03/2008 click for full size LABOR DAY BEACH BBQ @ SAND ISLAND PARK 9/1 Written by Michael Since I’ve never really hung out at Sand Island park I was pretty eager to check the place out. I have to admit I kinda like the place. This huge park is located at the end of sand island access road right across the harbor from Aloha tower and a couple of yards across from Kakaako waterfront park. Although hearing some rumors about the place we were pleased to find tons of parking, lots and lots of shaded tables/benches, nicely maintained facilities and best of all 2 very nice sandy beach areas. This was a perfect day for a bbq as the weather was great and Mark got us a good spot to set up camp. Our lunch consisted of 4lbs of prime A ribeyes, hot dogs, Zippy’s chili, watermelon, teriyaki shortribs, marinated chicken breast, vegetable stir fry, potato salad and various other treats. After some of us headed to the beach for a nice dip. Although the beach was a bit packed, the beach was nice and sandy. I hope to set up more events at Sand Island soon. Attendees: Laura, Mark, Alicia, Tom, Ginni, Zane, Karen, Sam, Ethan and Michael More Photos |
