Event Details ***** DADDS needs a list of all our volunteers' full names. The deadline to sign up with your full name is November 17th.***** DADDS (Dads Against Doing Drugs) is having its 5th Annual “DADDS Turkey Shoot Event” on Saturday, November 21st, 2009 at Ka’iulani Elementary School (Across Tamashiro Market In Kalihi). Last year, they had approximately 700 people come out and participate in this event from the Upper and Lower Kalihi District. This year, their outreach will expand to the outskirts of other communities, neighborhoods, homeless shelters, parks, etc. across the island of O’ahu with the anticipation of serving a wonderful “Thanksgiving Meal” to an estimated of 1,400 people. The goal of this event is to bring the community together to provide a Thanksgiving Meal to those who are homeless and less fortunate. Families who participate in this event will enjoy a day filled with great food, live entertainment, educational and informational booths, games, as well as prize giveaways. In addition, a 3 on 3 basketball competition will be provided as an alternative for our youth’s positive action motto, “Sports, A Positive Alternative”. It takes a lot of volunteers to make an event like this successful. Please join us in helping needy families and individuals enjoy a nice Thanksgiving meal. The Plan MIH will be responsible for serving food to everyone who attends this event. This is a HUGE job, and we need a minimum of 15 people to take this on. Our job will include setting up the food line, serving the appropriate amount of food to each person, ensure the serving line is well kept and maintained, and breaking down and cleaning the serving area. Please arrive on time. We will be meeting at the basketball court entrance at 11am. Then we will check in as a group and begin our job. 1400 people will be counting on us, so if you sign up it is very important that you show up! We will be outside (weather permitting) so don't forget sunscreen. Comfortable shoes are also a must. I will need the last names of all volunteers, so please either include that in your RSVP or email it to me. parking The entrance to the school's main parking lot is on King Street on the Diamond Head side of the school's property. They said there should be sufficient parking for everyone.
