Road Trip! Gila Cliff Dwellings
Some meetin people from Tucson and Albuquerque will be traveling to Silver City (the closest city to Gila National Park) view all the sights at Gila Cliff Dwellings and try the Catwalk at Glenwood. In April 11th thru 13th. You can either sign up on the Meetin Tucson or Meetin Albuquerque event, if you'd like to attend. It sounds like it'll be about a 4 hour car ride from El Paso.
It takes about 2+ hours to do Gila and crawl around the ruins. There is also a 13 mile hike that you can camp along. Near Silver City is a 1 mile Catwalk over a river gorge that shouldn't be missed. This can be a day trip or a weekend adventure...where the non-camping types can stay at the hotel or cabins in Silver City.
