Umpteenth semi-annual tea Written By AmyC 11/29/2007 click for full size
A lovely mid-November day, fall still falling all around us, some of us early arrivals met in Central Park across from the teahouse, guitars in hand to play a bit, introduce Yvette to the guitar she's been living with for years, and generally annoy the squirrels. Linda and I finally sang our duet that was short-circuited by microbes on Thursday, but it won't be our last performance of "Ripple." Jaka wandered by and joined us and even came to tea.
Eventually it was 3:30 and we packed up and headed indoors to enjoy the fabulous setting that is The Dushanbe Tea House. Chocolate fanatics had a field day (particularly as some folks were, incredibly, anti-cocao). Amy marveled, as usual, at the cute little cucumber sandwiches (or perhaps it was Holly, who likes to sit and watch...and comment). Our waiter appeared to be new, but we smilingly put up with him and went behind his back to get things straightened out. Tried out lots of interesting teas, but the coolest for me was Lisa's cause they put a "thing" in hot water and then it "blooms." Very cool. Lotus Blossom? Or something. I had a 6:30 appointment and figured I'd kill some time after tea in the library, but no, this gang hung out and soaked in the Tajik atmosphere till I had to say I needed to leave at around 6. I was also informed by Amy that this semi-annual event was going to continue "forever" and I was required to attend "forever." Oh well. If this be torture... More Photos

Hahaha... OMG..I never imagine myself in the pic like that. Adam, was it a sacred tea moment? I thought it was a party. (Tea = drink, drink = party..hahaha). Thanks dwight for the hat..I did win and got the prize. Yeah..we have unique wild animals in Indonesia, especially the komodo dragons. Anyway..it a great moment. Oh Adam, remember the tea you had..and not to have it forever! |

Indonesia Wildlife Komodo dragons, deer-like pigs, dwarf buffalos, black monkeys, colorful birds, two-horned rhinos, the banteng (wild bull of Java - they have horns not antlers), tree kangaroos... I just don't see any moose listed as wildlife in Java... Jaka, I fixed the racks on the hat, so the next time I see you I will give you the hat. I hear you won a contest with it and I think MID members may not recognize you anymore unless you're wearing the hat to all the events... |

Thank you! Always a FANTASTIC time at tea. Thanks for hosting, Adam, and to everyone for coming out for a relaxing and fun afternoon. Who knew so many would like Adam's swamp-like tea? |
