Completely unrelated to my interests, my name is pronounced KAY-dee.

    About Me

    2

    As a 1930s wife, I am
    Very Poor (Failure)

    Take the test!

I'm a native Portlander, but spent my 20s living in the South, upstate New York, and California. I moved back to Oregon after law school, and lived in Astoria for nine years. I'm so glad to be back in Portland! I love living in a neighborhood where I can walk to the movie theater, great restaurants, beautiful parks and natural foods stores.

I started doing living history nine years ago, and enjoy researching the mid-19th century and sewing reproduction period clothing. I also collect vintage clothing and jewelry.

I have been cooking since I was 4 years old. (Childhood food allergies.) By age 9, I was baking my own bread. Throwing dinner parties is one of my favorite ways to entertain.

I am food slave to three cats. I hope that they are not plotting to kill me.

Is your cat plotting to kill you?
    Why I joined
I wanted to discover how many ways people could find to spell my name in testimonials.
My Best MEETin event story ( please only fill in after you have been to an event )
MiPL has inspired me to do so many things that I otherwise might not have tried, like the bridge pedal, exploring Ape Caves, and running in the Urban Iditarod. Any pirate event with Captain Mike (like the Plunderathon) is incredibly ridiculous fun.

I also LOVE throwing parties--especially costume parties. Especially loved throwing the "Casablanca" party with Pammie, James, Anita, Maggie and Keith and the pirate parties with Maggie, Mike and Susan.

Kady (Kay-dee): 1. A woman who embodies grace, eloquence, sharp wit and an intelligence that rivals well known philosophers. 2. Someone to aspire to be like. 3. An affable hostess.

    <-( Karstan says ;-)
Kathryn is a goddess. She always brings an element of elegance and refinement to everything she does... even if it's bicycling semi-clothed through the streets of Portland at midnight.

    <-( Susan says ;-)
Kady, I have experienced so much with you, and MOST OF IT WAS ALL YOUR FAULT! Of course, I mean that in a good way, as you are constantly posting events with interesting venues and themes. Add to that your charming personality and your ensuring that everyone enjoys themseleves and it's no wonder your events are consistently full and talked about afterward. I feel sorry for the other Meetin cities because they don't have you!

    <-( Patty says ;-)
Such class, spirit, goofiness, thoughtfulness, sharp humor, high ENERGY, and pure MIPL love. It's people like Kady that make this group as great as it is.

    <-( Anita says ;-)
Kady is one cool chick! She knows so many things about history especially women's and civil war related. She knits, cooks, dances, sometimes sings if you can twist her arm. Above all she is a great friend to hang out with.

    <-( Ava says ;-)
Kady, Kady, Kady! She is a kindred spirit. A woman's woman, she embodies the best attributes...progressive, intellectual, compassion, and beauty. What more could you want in a friend?!

    <-( Kendra says ;-)
Meeting someone like Kady is exactly why I joined MiPL. Where else would I find a brilliant beauty bursting with more event-planning energy and ideas than a Vivacious Volcano? And her capacious wardrobe of costumes and vintage frocks makes me both drool and verdant with envy. So thanks, Kady, for making me into The Giant Green Drooler!

    <-( Vicki says ;-)
Looks like this is becoming the Kady fan club. Top appreciations: she has great diplomacy with different points of view, enough but not too much silliness (i.e. not an airhead), good ideas for activities, inclusive of everyone, and most of all: a fun person who I'm glad I've met in MIPL!

    <-( Peter says ;-)
Kady has so many great testimonials that I could not add anything new to them, except maybe for the little known fact that she plays and wins Backgammon by wittily executing her well thought out strategy of changing the rules mid-game. The variety of events she hosted show clearly how gifted she is with a lively imagination. As a former journalist she has the ability to think on a dime and play expertly with her choice of words.

    <-( Bronwyn says ;-)
The reason Kady has so many testimonials is because she is so fantastic. She is a rare gem because she is so unique. She stands out in MIPL - not only for her spectacular creativity and parties, but also for her cheerfulness, and vibrant energy that fills up any place that she goes. I love seeing Kady at any event because she's always happy and full of flair! She's a pirate, a victorian lady, a civil war character, an a Egyptian Queen, -She is that special and neat - for MIPL and the World! If you meet Kady you know exactly what I'm talking about!

    <-( Ben says ;-)
Kady was a naive naif from the Oregon coast -- but worldly Portland has made her into a soiree-staging socialite. I like Kady because when we were kids, working in the fish cannery, she never threw old, smelly mackerels at me. Only new, smelly ones.

    <-( Mark says ;-)
I just enjoy Katy's presence for she brings a certain ease and familiarity about her that creates a friendly environment. I look forward to the next time she hosts or even shows up at the even.

    <-( Anna says ;-)
I love that Kady likes to dress up as much and as often as I do. We must've been spirit twins in the womb. Can't wait to raid mummy's or grammy's closet with you for another fun event. Don't ever grow up and forget to dream, Kady!

    <-( Sarah says ;-)
How many times can you say Kady is great before you're just kicking a dead horse? Hey, wait! That sounds like a great idea for an event! And we all know who should plan it................

    <-( Kaira says ;-)
3 words: Wise, Welcoming, and Wicked!

    <-( Gary says ;-)
You've heard this saying before i'm sure "The hostess with the mostess" ... Is that even a word. But if you attend any event she's hosting, big or small, you will be amazed. She's also a great friend. Lets see; I've dressed her, fixed her car, subhosted for her, and those arejust the things I can put in print :O ... Kidding. But fun, profesionalism, and sexy all in one person. Now you know why her events are always full :)

    <-( Christine says ;-)
I feel so privileged to call Kady my friend! She is one of the most caring, heartwarming, welcoming people that I am honored to have in my life. She is quick with warm and comforting hugs, always has a smile ready for you, and her laughter will warm your soul! Take the time to enjoy one of her many events, or just chat with her when you meet her and your experience with MiPL will be greatly enriched!

    <-( Doug says ;-)
There are so many nice things said about Kathryn, and that is for great reason. I have watched person after person be welcomed and invited into MIPL by Kathryn. She is as sharp as a blade you don't want to touch, and she everyone involved in MIPL benefits from her event planning. Thanks Kady!

    <-( Okke says ;-)
Haaaa Caterina, if it wasn't for her I would not be part of the MIPL network, actually she has become more than my MIPL connection. You are awesome !

    <-( Calen says ;-)
Could she be any nicer? Who else would make their event kid friendly, even though she does not have children, and let an unknown toddler rule the day? Many thanks!
