Event Hosted By Jamie Krista Link To Event Start slideshow Tubing, Canoeing, and Kayaking at Shenandoah Written By Jamie 08/23/2006 click for full size This was a fine example of another Meet-in Camping success story. The weather was perfect and the people that came on this trip were awesome. I love it when a plan comes together. Krista did an amazing job on the carpool and tent list. Everyone got there safe and sound and on time. We began Friday night with a barbeque. Hamburgers, hot dogs, Seema's Pasta salad *yum* then we hung out around the fire. Saturday morning we all got up bright and early to have breakfast and prepare for the days activities. We were on the river by 11:30. We split into two groups one for the tubers and the other for the kayakers and Canoers. We had an amazing time on the river some lazily floating while others were paddling their hearts out. Viko spent so much time on the rope swing they had to do some serious paddling to catch the rest of the group. We had to wait on them though because they had the food! Eventually towards the end of the day the canoers caught up with the tubers about a 1/2 mile from the pick up point. I saw Kevin and Wesley towing a chaing of tubes. What hard work! I having had a little too much to drink was flipped over by those tubing. When we got back to the outfitter a fine steak and chicken dinner was waiting for us. The steaks were huge and the live music was awesome. That evening we were treated to a fire show by Viko! He looked awesome! The rest of the evening people broke into groups... some to play a lively game of asshole, others to sit around the fire roasting marshmallows, and still others to play a serious game of screaming scrabble. On sunday we all broke down camp early and left in our different directions. Some returning home and others to check out local wines, hiking and cavers. Good fun was had by all! Arwen	We had a Great Time! Jerry and I both had a great time! It was fun to see all of you! Thank you Jamie and Krista - I bow to your camping Queen-ness. I have to say that this was the best tubing trip so far because it didn't rain! Huzzah! I hope the weather holds out for future trips. Plus, we went in a canoe, so we had early dibs on showers!! Hopefully I will be in town for next year's trip. And, yes, Jan Louis, you will forever be remembered as the guy who lost his keys on the river in '04.

VikoViko	Amazing What a great event. Smores, stakes, canoeing, chatting with people around the bonfire, I even played volleyball. But the highlight to me was climbing a tree, swing with the rope to jump into the water. Just the same as when I was 7, only 3 decades later. Jamie and Krista are the bati duo!!!!
Liz	Thanks Jamie and Krista! You guys did an *amazing* job putting this together. I can totally understand why these camping trips are the highlight of the MiDC year. I had a great time. Thank you thank you!
Scott	I finally got to go camping again! Definitely my favorite event to date so far. As usual, here are some of my pictures and if you know I took a picture of you and would like a full-size version of it, drop me a message with your e-mail and I'll be perfectly happy (time-permitting) to oblige you with any I have of you! I had an amazing time and enjoyed a wonderful adventure a long ways away from work, which I desperately needed. I can't even begin to imagine the work that went into putting this together, so a world of thanks to Jamie and Krista for everything they had to endure so that the other 56 of us could enjoy such a great weekend. The weather was awesome, the people were great, and the steak was the icing on the cake. I couldn't have asked for more.
Kara	Fabulous Weekend:) Jamie and Krista - thanks so much for organizing this! You guys made this trip wonderful for everyone involved! It was great to spend time with everyone and also get some color while floating down the river. Also, thanks to Kevin and Amanda for letting me hitch a ride with them down the river!
Seema	as always a good time. A huge thank you to Jamie and Krista, who put on a wonderful event. As always it was great to see so many familiar faces, (Arwen and Jerry we miss you when you are not around), and in true MeetIn fashion, I appreciated getting to meet people who were new to me (Michelle, Gil, etc.) I'm already looking forward to next year's trip!

Erica	Best camping trip EVER This event ruled. Everyone had a really great time and it was fun to meet so many new people! Not to mention the all-you-can-eat steak dinner after a day on the river was the best idea ever! HUGE thanks to Jamie and Krista and everyone who pitched in to make it such an awesome weekend.
Brett	Shenandoah Campers Rule! Hey, guys... this event really was a good time. Thanks again to Jamie and Krista for ruling the woods in the way we've come to take for granted from them... what a well put together event! Viko and the fire-spinning... yours truly was just a WEE bit nervous standing next to his water bucket when his trousers momentarily caught on fire!! No harm done - of course Jamie put on an impressive show herself (albeit without the flames). It was great to be back here for another year - my first repeat of a major event! See ya September 9th!
Jan Louis®	HEY!! What a cheap Shot!! That was now over TWO years AGO!!! I cant believe I am still the poster child for that!! - looks like you all had some Incredible fun - definately going back next year as long as it doesnt fall on my B-day weekend (otherwise I am liable to be back in NYC, San Fran, or something similar!)
Shree	Awesome time... Ramya and myself had a wonderful time canoeing in the river and you couldn't ask for more with the weather. Thanks a lot to Jamie, Krista and everybody who helped put this baby together. I hope nobody lost their keys! :)
