Calling All Poets- Again! Written By Brooke 05/07/2008 click for full size Once again, Brijette and I were astounded by how much talent dwells within meetin. In addition to spoken word, this poetry reading included some music poetry as well, as Eric graced us with his amazing song writing, and I built up the courage to share a homemade song as well. Rebecca the Magnificent also mixed things up for us by sharing her favorite operatic poetry with us, while James threw in some Bob Dylan. It was wonderful sharing another intimate evening with old friends, as well as meeting some new ones! Whether people were reading their original work, or the moving words of others, each piece held insight and character that just fueled the already wonderful conversations of the evening. We even had some Shel Silverstein! Svetla read a poem, (one of my favorites of the evening), the message of which encouraged us all to metaphorically "be drunk"- On words, on love, on experience, on life. I can fondly say that on this evening, between the company, the words, the music, (the patron!), and the general magic in the room, we successfully embraced the message of that poem! Thanks to all who came out and made this such a magical event yet again! (And a special thanks to Claudette for bringing Mr. Patron!) ;) More Photos |

Thanks B&B for doing this event again. With the music by Eric and Brooke this little evening reached new heights. Once again amazed with wonderful talented people and what an inspiration they bring to try and do something creative. |

so beautiful This was quite possibly my favorite event ever. I had the most beautiful night! Great people, gorgeous poetry, and I loved how the night sortof dissolved into song at the end, now I want to learn guitar, too! And I loved the drunk poems, really cool how that trend grew. Thank you all, you are talented beautiful people. I Feel Drunk All the Time by Kenneth Patchen Jesus it's beautiful! Great mother of big apples it's a pretty World! You're a bastard Mr. Death And I wish you didn't have no look-in here. I don't know how the rest of you feel, But I feel drunk all the time And I wished to hell we didn't have to die. O you're a merry bastard Mr. Death And I wish you had no hand in this game Because it's too damn beautiful for anybody to die. |
