Portrait! Portrait!! Portrait!!! Draw! Draw!! Draw!!!
I've never seen so many people got together so early and eager to draw. Within half an hour, more than 20 of us dominated the whole section of Teaism.
We started with studying the proportion of a human face and soon practice on the person sitting across the table. Then, believe or not, the fire alarm went off in the building and we had to evacuate the building. (This NEVER happens!) Even standing outside, many of us were still in our good eager spirit and kept drawing. And since the weather was wonderful, we stayed outside and drew nearby the water fountain at the Navy Memorial.
It was great fun! We were freed from the tables and stools inside, and were free to walk around to draw whomever we like to draw rather than sitting at the tables. Take a look at the pictures!

Prabha
Fun and inspiring
Thank you Ming for a great event idea. I did a couple of portraits and they even looked vaguely like the subjects! Now I'm inspired to draw more - what if I actually have some talent?

CharAnn
what?!
ming, you didn't say there would be NUDE drawings. i am so jealous i could not come. I was doing my hitchcock event. there will have to be a repeat:)

Adrienne
I can't draw
but this event looks like it was a lot of fun! Great job everyone!

MING!!!
What great fun!
I think my favorite subject to draw, paint, sculpt, photograph..., etc. is still people. Can't believe how many talents are in this group, like what Candice said~ I'm constantly fasinated by people~ Thanks to everyone who came out to drew and share your talent. I am thankful to the fire alarm, too. We got to enjoy the nice weather outside. ;) How fun~

Jon
Cubism
Well after my cubist portrait of Brandon made him look like a thug I have reaffirmed that I am better taking up sock puppet making than portraiture if this programming thing doesn't work out. However I had no idea I would be such a popular subject for portraits, even now I am trying not to move too much because I feel like people are trying to draw me :-) Thanks Ming for being an inspiring teacher and setting this whole thing up. And Carmel, I think you may be on to something with this whole strip portraiture idea...

Carmel
Again...
...I'm in awe of the (hidden) talents of the people in this group :-) I'm so glad the fire alarm drove us out to enjoy the warm evening---how awesome was it to do portraits outside the Archives/Navy Memorial! And for the record, Pam, Prabha and I were not collaborating on a nude drawing of Jon (or were we???) I'd love a copy of my "drawing" by Candice :-) Thanks, Ming for a great event!

Candice
:)
well, it was certainly a perfect night to get booted outside because of a fire alarm! haha. i hadn't drawn anything in ages and it was fun. i got one full size and two mini portraits done... and even drew another on the metro ride home! looks like this event inspired me to try to draw more. :) thanks, ming!
