STORY STORY...
WOW, I feel like just one of those mothers who gave birth to like..., 20 babies all at once. Are there really that many? Well, I didn't give birth to them but one.
This project is fill with everyone's hard work. (Those who came to the event.) I was amazed by everyone's great spirit and energy on this project.
Of course, during the course of the evening, our conversations were filled with many crazy out of context quotes using the word "crotch" in ridiculous amounts. (It's just a fun word to say, "croch"!) "First we have to flip the body outside-in through the croch, stuff the body through the croch, and then do then whip-stitch the croch..." I guess the conversations would make anyone laugh. We just had a great time!
While we were working, many people and families (with kids) stopped and took a look at what we were doing. I guess this interests just about anybody.
At the end of the night, everyone finished their mini sock spIKEY with their little characters and personalities. Just look at the "class picture"~ Some used painted on felt eyes, some used wigglie eyes, some had big buck teeth, some had little cute teeth, some were plump and some were fit... They were so much fun to look at!
Thank you, everyone, for coming out tonight! It was so amazing to see you work and the result was AWESOME! You guys ROCK!

- Ming

PS. If you missed this event and want to make your own sock spIKEY, you can always come to my Stitch-N-Bitch event to make one ;~)

Janet
move to DC the MEEPS here are the best hehe

Janet
......
That does look like the best event ever. And I was mad at the Philly people for kicking me out and telling me I had to move to DC, why? I could do arts and crafts with Ming!

Jamie
Thanks Ming
I had a great time and produced an adorable if somewhat goofy looking spikey. I think he might be a bit in-bred. still trying to figure out a suitable name. And just for the record. I did not play with the butt on Jon's Spikey. Jon did that all by hisself.

Denise
Dang!
So sorry I missed it -- what an adorable group of little guys! Guess you never expected to be a grandmother so soon, huh? ;D

Brandon™
B.E.E.?
Best Event Ever? It's definitely up there! Ming, thank you so much for hosting and getting all the supplies and being so patient with us as we asked questions like "Hey, Ming... how do I reach into his but and grab his hair?" or "Hey, Ming... does his bellybutton string need to come out his butt?" LOL. Such goofy rediculous fun! It was such a satisfying event and also helped me focus on a fun task to forget about some everyday stresses. I'm looking forward to the next crafty Ming event!

MING!!!
Hee...
This post got long... Last night I couldn't sleep so I stayed up to finish my armless sock spIKEY baby, and I gave her (not him anymore) little boobies too... LOL Now the other baby sock spIKEY has a female companion~ How fun!

CharAnn
wow
what they said below. i am determined to finish my sock spikey so he can play with my sock monkey:)

Sonya
aw...
look at all the new baby spIKEYs. so cute!

Cara
Hehe, crotch!
Yeah, I even snorted once I was laughing so hard!! I didn't quite get to finish my little one, but at least he has eyes, teeth, and the cutest little bum you ever did see! Thanks Candice for the bum making lesson! I'll try and finish his arms and put him together this weekend and post the photo. :) You're the greatest Ming!!

Angel
Loved the event...
and the company. I am so glad to have my very own Sock spIKEY. Thanks Ming!

Jan Louis®
LOL I wasnt trying to laugh
while Carmel was doing that interview. I will admit that his "Crotch" disturbs me... mainly because you were stuffing stuff INTO him! Great Job guys!!

Carmel
This morning (4/3)...
...there was a camera crew at the tidal basin getting coverage of the cherry blossom photograhers. I had my sock spIKEY with me. They got me on camera with sock-spIKEY but most likely didn't make it on air. They interviewed Jan Louis earlier, too. Anyway, I said on camera that he (the sock-spIKEY, not Jan Louis) was our mascot (though I wish we had the real thing...) but the newswoman kept calling him (the sock-spIKEY, not Jan Louis) a "monster." Anyway, if it doesn't make it air, just know that our newly minted sock-spIKEY has already been exposed to the media just for waking up at dawn to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom! Thanks, Ming for an awesome event and teaching us to make a sock-spIKEY. Never have I ever had such a crotchety time with MiDC!

mIKEY
oh and ming and jamie
thanks for threading my needles man i am a guy ..i can't believe i just said that LOL

Mas
This was the first time...
... that I actually sewed something without resorting to duct tape. Thanks for a great event, Ming!

Bonnie
Great Picture!
That is an awesome front page picture - all those sPIKEY's running around. I love it!

Brijette
I nursed my baby on the way home :)
HA! I was already getting strange stares (no, these were different from the usual ones I get, Ruthie! LOL), so I put sPIKEY under my coat and, in my bleary eyed haze, look down to see sPIKEY in a compromising, yet sweet position. He slept very peacefully last night! :) Ming, again, I bow to you, our creative goddess. Without you, these monkeys would just be (yet another) figment of our imagination :)

Robert
very, very cool...
...thank you much, Ming. You put a lot of yourself in this event and I greatly respect that. You're awesome, the sock spIKEYS are awesome, and the time I spent there was more than awesome. Last night I dreamt of an army of sock spikeys. I now have a new hobby. I'll see you in the arts & crafts aisle.

MING!!!
Thank you for your ENERGY
You know what the amazing part was? Everyone was enjoying it so much and I didn't hear any complains about my skinny little needles (they were a little too small for the yarn). But you know what? These little sock spIKEYs really look amazing! GREAT JOB EVERYONE!

Carlea
Fantastic!!
They look beautiful guys. Can't wait till we do this one in Philly:)

Trish
Sorry I missed it...
Will there be another? (I hope, I hope!) :}

Candice
"you ram it in the crotch...
...and then yank the yarn down to make the butt crack." LOL. such a fun event. thanks so much for making this happen, ming! they all turned out great - each with their own little personalities. :)

Ruthie
his butt came out on the metro ride home?
Sounds like I missed a great event ;-)

mIKEY
kick ass event
thanks so much for all of your hard work ming. I am only image how hard it is to set this up. What a great effort. Lots of fun. I love arts and crafts :-)

Adrienne
It wasn't me....
making any of those 'out of context comments', but I will admit to having fun TRYING to make a Spikey. Thanks Ming!

Jon
Crotch
Such a great event Ming, but I've come to expect nothing less from you! Look forward to seeing your head at Art-o-matic (shameless plug for anyone who isn't already planning on going). Maybe I'll bring little Spikey along to see if you can fix him up as his butt came out on the metro ride home (Jamie was playing with it). At least I'm pretty sure those teeth are never coming off. I can't believe I learned three kinds of stitches tonight! Good times :-)
