Celtics Pool
Okay, here is a great pool that you will all enjoy. It is all luck and very simple to play. You have all played Super Bowl Squares and have, at one time or another, been that unfortunate person to get the numbers 8 and 2 or 6 and 2 or 9 and 8, etc… You were done in the pool before the game even started.
Well, now there are Celtics Squares. In basketball, every number is good. During past years, numbers 8 and 5, 8 and 2 came out once. Numbers 9 and 9, 9 and 3, 6 and 3, 2 and 1 and 2 and 4 came out three times each. You are in the running until the last launched ball from half court either hits the rim or gets nothing but net.
The way it works is the same as Super Bowl Squares. The Celtics will be on one side of the squares and all opponents are on the other side. You pick a square, plop down your money and wait for the results. If the Celtics win 98 to 85, then you follow the 8 from the Celtics and the 5 from the opponent to see who won the square.
The cost to get into the pool for one square is $20 for the whole season. Every game, one lucky winner will win $25. So all you have to do is win once and you have made your money back plus enough for a meal at Subway. The way the finances work is that we only use the first 80 games of the Celtics regular season. So 100 contestants times $20 entry fee equals $2,000 divided by 80 games equals $25 per game. You can take up to two squares
The Celtics season starts October 27. But we will use only 80 games so we will start the pool on Oct. 30 – a home game versus Chicago. My goal is to have 100 different people in the pool so if you know anyone who is interested and not on the email, please feel free to pass this along to them. However, if you are interested in two squares, I will write your name on a list and you can have the second square if we can't fill the grid.
I will need your money in advance. Email me and we can make arrangements.
In order to pick your square by email, send me the square number that you want. Picture a sheet of paper with 100 squares on it in a 10 square by 10 square format. The upper left square is number 1, the upper right square is number 10, the lower left corner is 91 and the bottom right corner is 100. So if you want square 60, that would be the square on the far right, six rows down. Or you can just pick a number from one to 100. If someone already has picked the square that you want, I will email you and let you know so you can pick again. Or you can just tell me to pick one for you. Go Celtics!
