Event DetailsSorry for the late post, wanted to make sure I could make it first! We'll be finished hiking in plenty of time to rest up for Chris' Par-Tay later Saturday night. As of now, Saturday is forecasted as mostly sunny with a high of 54 degrees with 10% chance of precipitation & 5 mph winds. Sounds like nice fall hiking weather to me! Hike Planned: I've planned a nice loop *Controlled Dog Friendly* hike approximately 7-8 miles. We'll do all of the (#2)5 Mile Gulch trail to (D)Boise Ridge Road and then come down the 8th Street Trail (#4) to (#6) Curlew Connector and hit the end of (#3) Watchman and continue down (#26) 3 Bears back to Rocky Canyon Road and the trailhead parking lot. Wow that's a lot of trails! I haven't done this exact loop yet but am very excited about it! This area is my favorite to hike in the foothills. (# - is the Ridge to Rivers trail #). I don't know the elevation gain but I know the end of 5 Mile Gulch is pretty steady inclines so I would rate this as a moderate to difficult hike because of the distance and inclines. I would estimate total hiking time with breaks at 3-4 hours with roundtrip 4-5 hours. I typically hike at a nice pace and take frequent quick breaks as needed, but feel free to hike at whatever pace you feel good at. We can group ourselves along the trail so everyone enjoys the day. I hike in the foothills because it is fun! This hike is also being posted as a CO-ED hike on Women's Hiking Network. Everyone is welcome! We'll meet at the Ft. Boise Dog Park and then carpool up to the 5 Mile Gulch trailhead on Rocky Canyon Road. Things to Bring: Plenty of Water Snacks for enjoy the moment breaks Weather appropriate clothing, including layers & wind protector and light rain jacket/poncho (if applicable) and warmer layers because it will probably be pretty windy and cooler at the ridge. Comfortable hiking boots/shoes - in the spring and early summer there were some creeks (gulches) to cross but I'm thinking that should be dry by now. Sunhat/glasses/visors. Camera if you want. I'll have mine. And of course your sense for fun and adventure!! I think that's it, hope to see you there!! Karen **Controlled Dog Friendly - meaning as long as your dog is under your control and not jumping up on fellow hikers bring them along! Ridge to River's requires that you carry a leash with you on the trails, and your dog should be leashed at the trailhead parking lot.
