    Your Interests
Anything outdoors... caving (yeah, I'm down with the underground), minor hikes, Barton Springs, cycling, trail riding, falling off bicycles, live music, and FOOD (indoors or out :-). And there's always clubbing/boozing it up, and I'm way into the arts.
    Favorite Music
I have pretty varied interests, as long as it's good. I'm a classical musician by training, and I wrote a web site in the 90s (you know, back before everyone had a MySpace page :-) that covered contemporary classical music. I'm one of the few people to follow up a Brahms CD with Fishbone's "Give a Monkey a Brain...". I also once drove from the symphony to a rave. :-)

New stuff: Feist, Vampire Weekend, Sufjan Stevens (in a big way), and those dudes from Flight of the Conchords

My favorites include (big breath): Muse, The Decemberists, Arcade Fire, TV On The Radio, Dave Matthews Band (through Busted Stuff), Fiona Apple, Cat Power, Paul Simon, The Sundays, Roberto Juan Rodriguez, Hugh Masekela (and most any Afro-pop I can get my hands on), Sigur Ros, Norah Jones, Imogen Heap, underground hip-hop (Aceyalone), Bjork, Pearl Jam, That1Guy, Barenaked Ladies, Carolyn Wonderland, good house and trance (Donald Glaude, Julius Papp), everything on the trombone, contemporary classical (Adams, Pärt, Gorecki, Rouse, many others), Calexico, Cuban and other latin styles, raga, the aforementioned Fishbone, 90s ska, jazz, newgrass/slamgrass (South Austin Jug Band), even some ancient country & western. A little bit of anything that doesn't suck. :-)

Lately, I'm getting into Andrew Bird, Angelique Kijou, Marisa Monte, old Guster, et al.
    Favorite Books
The Singing Neanderthals, Midnight in the Garden (and his 2nd book, City of Falling Angels), just about any Douglas Adams, the Isaacson bio of Benjamin Franklin, Fast Food Nation. I want to be a travel writer when I grow up, so I read collections of that stuff a fair amount.
    Favorite TV Shows
I fired my TV, and all my guilty downloading pleasures are gone (Alias, Carnivale, the West Wing)... now I just waste copious amounts of time on movies I've seen a million times.
    Favorite Movies
Recently? The Departed, Amelie, The Incredibles (best Bond flick in a decade :-), O Brother Where Art Thou, Shawshank Redemption, the Matrix trilogy. I dig Tom Tykwer films -- Run Lola Run, etc.

Of all time? 2001, Ghandi, Airplane, a lot of Hitch (North by Northwest, The 39 Steps, Dial M)... and on and on.

    About Me
I moved from Houston in May '04, and I'm so in love with this town it's silly. I'm a programmer with a degree in music who wishes he were a travel writer. I think the favorite pet question is silly... I'm bi-petal (heh), I just happen to only have a cat. An incredibly talkative klutzy affectionate cat.
    Why I joined
Right when I first moved I met people from another online group. We got together a few times and it was fun, but eventually it fizzled... Meetin to the rescue! (It's fizzle-proof.) Since finally following up on an RSVP (my third or fourth), I've always had a great time at Meetin events.
My Best MEETin event story ( please only fill in after you have been to an event )
Too many to mention... from legendary happy hours (219 West) to little hikes and day trips, Meetin has filled my social calendar since my first event. I've met some of my very best friends through this group and had tons of fun in the process.

The most memorable so far, though, was a trip some Meetin friends took to the Dominican Republic. Wall-to-wall laughter and adventure and drinking and such.

One of the nicest people that you will ever meet. Glen immediately puts you at ease, and make you feel like one of the family. Tap his knowledge sometime about films and you won't be disappointed. He has an intelligence that never itimidates, but encourages you want to learn more. Glen embodies 'Meetin', and is one of the reasons for the rapid growth of the group. A true 'mensch' amongst meeps ... spend some time talking to Glen, and you'll be much richer for the experience. Word.

So sometimes, when people become good friends, little things like testimonials kinda slip by. So I'm here to rectify that...I have known Glen for over a year and its been awesome to have someone so cool and classy as my friend. He's intelligent, kind, witty, and always game to trying new things. I never knew he made baklava though, so now he's even cooler than I thought. :-)

    <-( LT says ;-)
Glen is an amazing person! He put his heart, soul and sometimes sleepless hours into making MeetinAustin what it is today - a vibrant, fun-filled environment where friendships (and somehow knitting skills) flourish. Thanks for your hard work and constant pestering about posting events. You've earned your retirement status!

    <-( Stephanie says ;-)
Watch out for PYTYON! he's got a killer smile and a quick sense of humor. Glen is a lot of fun with his great taste in music and dance moves. And if he has on a snappy button shirt - he might let you rip it off of him!

    <-( CharAnn says ;-)
Glen with the help of the Austin crew helped to organize the Austin Convention '07. Glen himself hosted well over 13 events. By the end of the convention, I realized I had not met the man himself. I am glad I had a chance to meet you and to say "thanks" in person for a wonderful convention!

    <-( Ruthie says ;-)
If not for Glen I wouldn’t have tried an Avocado Margarita (seriously - I’d order it again!), ridden in a sweet convertible up S. Congress, or experienced as many great sites & folks on my trip. Glen led his team for one helluva convention and should be compensated by the Austin Tourism Board for all our gushing over that wonderfully weird city! I owe Glen plenty of fun when he visits DC - unless I’ve moved to Austin by the time he gets here ;-)

    <-( Clarence says ;-)
I met Glen as the Austin Leader for more than a year since I came from Portland. He is such a great guy by being laid back and orchestrating the team to work in harmony. He has been responsible, along with his team, in creating a great Celebration (Convention) for Meetin in 2007. During the celebration, he was omnipresent in every single event that I attended. Even though he was exhausted, he offered my brother and his girlfriend and myself a private tour to Manfield Park before going to another event. Ah, how can I forget... girls, ask him for a nice piggy ride as well, his specialty. Look forward to meeting him... you won't regret it at all.

    <-( dustin says ;-)
Glen is a fantastic! He won't give you the shirt off his back, but he will give you his back. Go ahead, ask him for a piggy back ride. When my feet were sore and could no longer pub crawl from bar to bar, he carried me! Glen is my new hero!

    <-( Bonnie says ;-)
Glen was the host of all hosts at the meetin convention in Austin. He answered my call and gave me directions to an event that he wasn't even hosting!!! If that's the kind of guy he is all the time, meetin is lucky to have him. And I'm thankful to have met him. THANK YOU for a great weekend in Austin.

    <-( Dwayne says ;-)
Y'all are lucky to have Glen as your Leader. It was nice to meet Glen at the '07 MeetIN Celebration and he took the time out to host tons of events during that time. It was also great to get a chance to chat with and get feedback from Glen to find out what makes a city run like a well oiled machine! If you get a chance to meet him, you'll find out why he's such a great leader. Great to meet ya Glen. See you in Austin again soon!

    <-( mIKEY says ;-)
Real pleasure to get to finally meet you Glen. We all had a great weekend in your city. Thank you and all of the event planners for all of there hard work they put into this. You guys really worked hard on this and it showed. Drop by DC man and ring us up so we can show you our side of the world.

    <-( Molly says ;-)
Glen has an amazing sense of humor and a very devious mind (which is, of course, a good thing!). I've enjoyed meeting him and hangin' with him at many events. In fact, most of the time my face hurts from laughing after hanging out with Glen. I am glad that he is our fearless leader - he's a super guy!!

    <-( Susie says ;-)
Like I told Glen many many weeks ago...I was amazed that I hadnt already written him a testimonial. On the subject of long overdue! Glen, our fearless leader = super awesome. He's a ridiculous amount of fun to be around, has bizarre amounts of energy and still manages to get stuff done. Newbies--- get to know this guy. I promise, you will thank me later.

    <-( Khanh says ;-)
Our leader can totally beat up your leader! That's not really true in the sense that Glen is such an awesome guy and so friendly that he really wouldn't beat anyone up (unless you really deserved it). Glen is the guy that you always want to have around because he's funny, smart and full of surprises. He's got great taste in music and movies and food and I'm so glad that he's here in Austin. Yay Glen! You rock!

    <-( MEGHAN says ;-)
Glen is wicked awesome. He's got a great sense of humor and can talk about a wide variety of different subjects. He's warm, welcoming and a lot of fun. Get to know this guy and you'll be glad you did.

    <-( Beatriz says ;-)
Glen is a genuine guy, he has a contagious smile and is the highlight of any event. I can't imagine what Meetin would be like without his electric energy. If you're around this guy you're very likely to be shocked. :P

    <-( Glenn says ;-)
Glen is a great guy that has always made me feel welcome from day one. He is a master at making sure he speaks to everyone at an event and is a major reason MI does not have "clicks". He is a true believer that it is not the event, its the people.

    <-( Jennifer says ;-)
When I grow up I wanna be like Glen! Friendly, fun, witty and always welcoming. I always enjoy having a conversation with Glen... no matter what random topic it's about. You should definitely say hello to this wonderful guy.

    <-( Camron says ;-)
Glen can bike faster and farther uphill than anyone I know. This is because he doesn't have ankles. His calves go from his knee to his foot. My ankles go all the way up to my knees.

    <-( Alirio says ;-)
Glen is an cool and easy-going guy with a great personality. I met him at a MiA crepe event but didn't have the chance to converse much with him. I'm glad I had the opportunity to attend one of his events in MiH. He was very flexible and even though it had rained before, he still showed up and enjoyed it. My fiance and I had a good time!
