Event Details The weather forecast announced really bad weather on the 12th, so I decided to re-schedule the event for the 19th of August, in hope of of better luck with the (no-)rain :-) The De Haar is a restored medieval castle located near Utrecht. The baroque French gardens of the castle were also restored. Depending on the weather, we could visit the castle and then enjoy a picnic and walk in the gardens/park (or have some food at the cafetaria if the weather forecast got it wrong, and walk in the rain). Price of the event: - return train ticket Amsterdam - Utrecht: 7 euro if enough there are enough reduction cards around, 11.70 euro full price - bus ticket (# of strips tbc) - bring your strippekart ! - entrance fee: 8 euro (castle tour included), 3 euro (park only) if you cannot stay away from the sun and want to enjoy the gardens while the others are visiting the dungeon - plus whatever you eat/drink There seem to be guided tours in English at 12:30 and 14:30. We'll meet at Amsterdam CS at 11:00, to take the 11:22 train to Utrecht. Alternately, people may join directly in front of Utrecht CS at 12:00. According to the website, "from Utrecht Centraal Station take bus 127 direction Breukelen / Kockengen until the 'Brink' stop in Haarzuilens. From here, it is a 15 minutes walk to the castle." Return time tbd, but there is an option to enjoy dinner at a little terrace along the main canal in Utrecht (especially if someone recommends a place)
