We'll leave early enough to get started before the full heat of day. The drive is less than 3 hours and mostly interstate.

The Elkhorn hike begins at Anthony Lake. It's an eight mile hike so be physically ready. Bring a lunch for the trail. We'll have dinner late in the afternoon following the hike at the historic Geiser Grand Hotel then shuffle back to Boise.

The scenery is stark and sheer granite in much the way of the Sawtooth. The valley vistas are expansive. You'll want to go again, especially when you hear the story of the fallen horse:)

Count on the possibility of any kind of weather - it can be crazy/marvelous in the mountains!
